ABOUT ME

I was born in 1978 in Gelnhausen, Germany.
After a training as chef in Cologne, my path led me to the Centro Culturale Borgata in San Martino for the first time in 2001. Here I not only got to know a new way of cooking, but also and above all a wonderful place in a wonderful natural setting, with lots of lovely people and their stories.
Impressed and inspired by the stories and my experiences in Maira Valley, I studied geography and soil science in my adopted home of Hamburg. I have felt a deep friendship with the place, the valley and the people since the first days and return regularly, both professionally and privately.
I have been involved with photography and analog photographic processes since my youth. I am particularly fascinated by processes from the early days of photography, such as the cyanotype and the salt printing process. These processes, known as noble printing processes, convey a very direct contact between the motif and the creation of the actual image through their supposed simplicity and creative possibilities. All steps, from the production of the photographic paper and exposure to toning and finishing, are part of the creative process.
I am delighted to be able to share my photographic view of the Valle Maira this year, here at the Centro Culturale Borgata, and hope you enjoy my pictures.
